Radiators That Add Style

!9#: Radiators That Add Style

The typical household radiator has always been regarded as a necessary, but not very attractive feature of the home. I you have a central heating system radiators are essential, but their boring and ugly designs have made them something to be disguised or hidden. Over the last two decade though, things have changed and a new generation of radiators have now become modern and highly stylish features of many homes.

We have seen the arrival of the "designer radiator".

Stylish designer radiators

With an ever increasing interest in house remodeling, radiator design has evolved into something of an art form with different profiles, shapes and surface finishes. Radiators can be finishes in stainless steel, brushed metal, or even brightly coloured paints and lacquers and their presence is no longer something to hide.

The first designer radiator

The bathroom radiator was probably the first radiator to really benefit from the attention of interior designers. They transformed the traditional radiator into a stylish modern design icon that fitted neatly into a bathroom.

Hence, the designer radiator was born.

Even more designer radiators started to emerge as more creative designs like the "tower" and "column" radiators began to appear on the high street. These tall "column like" radiators redefined the rules of radiator design by creating radiators that added to the aesthetics and style of a room.

The radiator was now something that could enhance a room.

Radiators as art

The next big milestone in radiator design was to take the new, but still angular, modern radiators and vary their looks and styling. This was done by adding curves to the previously vertical and horizontal designs and the first new arrival was the "wave" radiator. This radiator avoided the use of straight vertical radiator pipes and ninety degree angles by adding a "wave" or "ripple" effect to the radiator's tubing.

The wave shape is now one of the top sellers and it can be used to great effect and in any room in the house. These wave radiators can be found in a range of colours from pastel shades to matt black and their costs have fallen dramatically making them affordable to all.

Radiators for the future

New and more extravagant designer radiators are appearing all the time. At the top end of the scale there are the "super designer radiators". These are made from new materials and look nothing like a standard radiator. At the other end of the spectrum there are radiators that incorporate mirrors, reflective panels and even LED lights.

Some radiators have a "flat panel" designs, whilst others generate sculptural effects by bundling up the tubular radiator pipe work for a three dimensional impact. Naturally prices vary dramatically, but you can buy a very stylish radiator for comparatively little money.

What Is A Solar Bird Bath?

!9# What Is A Solar Bird Bath?

How does solar relate to the words solar bird bath? Well, the words are a myth. In otherwords, they do not exist. The dictionary definition for birdbath is an ornamental basin set up for birds to bathe in. Solar is defined as energy from the sun. Since the only ingredient in the item is water, the sun could not be involved.

Do All Birds Feed From Feeders?

Not all birds feed from feeders. One example of this is the robin. The robin plucks worms (usually nightcrawlers) from the soil. However, all birds require water for drinking and bathing.

Solar Pumps

The word, "solar" becomes connected to a bird bath when a small pump is present in the water, either floating or submerged. The pump is electrically powered by the sun. The idea behind the pump is to keep the water fresh by circulation. The water in the bath should be changed daily, irregardless of whether there is an installed pump or not.

Although many retailers use the above words to describe their product, it is literally incorrect. They have put together the two pieces, the bath and solar pump, to serve as a selling point. The pumps are available as a separate item.

Backyard Joy

One of these installed is your backyard will bring you a lot of pleasure. Many birds migrate to the north during the warm months of the year. The number of birds which frequent a bath is astounding and, surprisingly, will teach you all about bird lore. You will become curious and search on the internet and look in books to find out which birds you are viewing. You could even use binoculars to get a close-up view.

Viewing the feathered friends visiting your yard can relieve the stress of your job, entertain you, bring an awareness of how simple life can be and bring you closer to nature.

Types

There are many types which can be discussed at length in a future article. Just to name a few, fountain, achla, ceramic, glass and concrete represent some of the types.

So in summary, a solar bird bath does not exist but you can purchase your item and make it a solar, either as a combo or as separate pieces. Prices run anywhere from .00 to as much as you are willing to pay. The pleasure is derived not from the price but from your birdie visitors. Surely, nature will abound.

Ventilation - An Important Aspect of a House

!9# Ventilation - An Important Aspect of a House

Good ventilation is a must for a house, as fresh air is a necessity for good health. In the construction of a house, the architects make sure that the house is well ventilated. Always they provide for ventilation. In tropics most of the houses have ventilation from the roof where the roof is left without covering completely leaving room for air to come in.

In cold climates it is not easy to leave provisions for natural ventilation. As a result some of the air has to be forced out to allow for fresh air to come in. A ventilation fan comes in handy in such a situation. A few fans located in the correct places will solve the problem. These fans will be able to force some of the air inside the house out. One of the places in the house where a ventilation fan could come in is the kitchen. Kitchen is one place the air often gets the smells of food and these smells could spread into other areas of the house if no expelled. A small exhaust fan will do the job. You can find a fan which does not make noise. There are fans which consume very little electricity and make very little noise.

Your bathroom is another place where you can have a ventilation fan. This will expel the moist air from the bathroom. Also the bathroom normally has smelly substances from which the smells could come. Shampoos, toilet soaps, shaving creams all are things which emit smells. These smells will go out with some of the carbon dioxide the people emitted on respiration.

The attic too is another place for an exhaust fan. It gets heated during summer and gets cold during winter. In both cases it is good to expel the air to make way for the fresh air. At the same time it will lessen the load for either heater or the air conditioner.
